Aspyr has posted a beta patch for the Mac version of Civilization IV. The beta patch fixes a nasty bug that caused excessive CPU usage in certain Macs, especially G5’s. The game should no longer run dual CPU’s to 100% capacity with the patch. The patch also makes some sounds to play correctly, but other sounds may still be inaudible. A future official release of the patch will address those.
The Mac Civ4 beta patch is available for download from MacGameFiles and is 15 MB in size. Thanks to InsideMacGames for the news tip.
