Dennis Shirk (aka dshirk) of Firaxis posted some information about the Warlords expansion and the Barbarian Horde scenario on the forum today.
He stated that future patches for vanilla Civ4 will remain independent of Warlords for any future patches.
Regarding the Barbarian Horde scenario, dshirk wrote that the player can adjust how developed the AI civs will be by setting the number of turns for the AI to play through before the player enters the scenario. Changing the number of turns can result in different experience each time you play.
