http://www.civfanatics.com/images/civ4/civ4pyramids_sm.jpg[/img]AP published an interesting article yesterday about the New 7 Wonders of the World project and why the Egyptians are not happy about it. The reason is they find it ridiculous that the Great Pyramid of Giza, the only surviving monument of the Seven Ancient Wonders, has to compete for a spot on the list.
For those who haven’t heard about it, the project is a proposed revision of the Seven Wonders of the World list launched in September 1999 by Swiss businessman Bernard Weber. It started with a list of 177 monuments but the list has narrowed to 21 finalists since early 2006. The organizers plan to declare the New 7 Wonders of the World on 07/07/07.
Many of the finalists are familiar to Civ fans. The ones that have appeared as Wonder of the World in the Civilization series are in bold:
